China city seeks construction of 11 small hydro projects

Yichang’s small hydropower agency invites applications for pre-qualification to build 11 small hydroelectric projects in China’s Hubei Province. Responses are due May 12.

Under the European Investment Bank’s China Climate Change Framework Loan, Yichang City Project Management Office for Small Hydropower Project has applied for 44 million euros (US$63.8 million) from China’s Finance Ministry to build the Hubei Province Yichang City Small Hydropower Development Project. China said in 2009 it would develop 10 small hydro projects in Hubei Province with EIB funding.

On behalf of Yichang City, the China International Tendering Co. invites applications for pre-qualification for any of the civil works contracts for Wufeng and Changyang small hydropower plants. Work is to be performed between July 2011 and July 2013.

Contracts include:

Wufeng County
o Contract No. WJH&CN-Civil-1: Civil works of Chinan, Wangjiahe 1, Wangjiahe 2, and Wangjiahe 3 projects;
o Contract No. TJH-Civil-1: Civil works of Tangjiahe 1 and Tangjiahe 2 projects;
o Contract No. QLG-Civil-1: Civil works of Qilinguan 1 and Qilinguan 2 projects;

Changyang County
o
Contract No. ECK&XJP&CF-Civil-1: Civil works of Erchakou, Xujiaping, and Changfeng projects.

Prospective bidders are required to have performed at least two contracts within the last three years including construction of hydroelectric dam, main plant civil works, and/or electro-mechanical equipment installation. Each contract must have had a minimum value between 20 million and 50 million renminbi (US$3 million and US$7.6 million) depending on the contract sought.

Pre-qualification documents may be obtained until May 11 from the China International Tendering Co. address below for 5,000 renminbi or 500 euros (US$766).

Applications for pre-qualification are due by 10 a.m., Beijing time, May 12 to East International Hotel, Wuhan Meeting Room 19, Donghu South St., Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China.
