Civil construction pact signed for Vietnam’s 82-MW Thai An

Vietnam hydropower constructor Cavico Corp. said its subsidiary, Cavico Bridges and Tunnel Co., received a civil construction contract for the 82-MW Thai An hydroelectric project in Vietnam’s Ha Giang Province.

Cavico Bridges signed a US$20.7 million deal May 4 to construct a headrace tunnel, surge tank, and intake for the project, 124 miles north of Hanoi. The company is to begin mobilization of equipment immediately with the work to be completed in 25 months.

Total investment in the project is US$103 million. The main investor is Thai An Joint Stock Co., with additional investment by Military Bank, HABUBANK, and Bac A Bank.
