Colombia awards audit of 660-MW Porce 3

Colombia utility Empresas Publicas de Medellin (EPM) has awarded a 194.9 million peso (US$74,220) contract to Corporacion Centro de Investigacion y Dessarrollo Tecnologico del Sector Electrico (CIDET) to perform a socio-environmental audit of the 660-MW Porce 3 hydroelectric project.

CIDET won the contract in competition with two other firms, Asesorias y Auditorias Integrales and Bureau Veritas.

The contract, initiated by EPM with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), is to be carried out in 730 calendar days.

EPM has commissioned Construcoes e Comercio Camargo Correa of Brazil to build the project on the Porce River in consortium with Colombian firms Conconcreto and Coninsa. IADB has approved a US$200 million loan for the project.
