Contract awarded for switchgear to Norway’s 328-MW Holen

Norwegian grid operator Statnett SF has awarded a contract to a Norwegian unit of ABB to deliver equipment to Norway’s 328-MW Holen hydroelectric project.

Statnett awarded a contract to ABB AS Divisjon Kraftsystemer of Oslo, the sole bidder, to supply 420-kilovolt gas-insulated switchgear for delivery to Holen.

Statnett plans a 100-kilometer 420-kV transmission line running from Skareheia to the Holen plant in southern Norway. The line is to maintain security of the region’s energy supply by carrying power to and from subsea cables linking Norway to the main continent.
