Corps awards contract for Northwestern environmental evaluations

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a US$5 million contract to Herrera Environmental Consultants Inc. for environmental services, sediment sampling and analysis in western Washington, western Oregon and southeastern Alaska.

Work is to include characterization of various marine, brackish and freshwater sediments; design of navigation channels and dredging equipment; acoustic Doppler evaluations; wave data analysis; water quality monitoring; environmental assessments; fish habitat analysis; biological assessments; fish and wildlife studies; wetland inventories; watershed analyses; and remote sensing technology.

The Corps’ Seattle District last took bids for the work in May with a solicitation reserved for small businesses.
