Corps extends bidding for architect-engineers in Southwest

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has extended the deadline for expressions of interest from architect-engineering firms to provide multi-disciplinary services in support of civil works and some military projects, mainly in the Corps’ Southwestern Division. Responses now are due Feb. 5, 2010.

The Corps previously called for responses by Jan. 27, saying it would award up to two indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity contacts about April 9, each contract for a cumulative amount of US$27.5 million. (HydroWorld 1/7/10) Most of the work is to be performed in the Southwestern Division, including Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico. In unique cases, work might be performed in other regions.

Services are expected to include engineering analyses and design, civil works and water resources planning including hydropower, hydrology and hydraulic modeling, mapping services, cultural resources and environmental studies, hazardous and radioactive waste investigations, and others.

Corps extends bidding for three N.C. project master plans

The Corps of Engineers’ Wilmington District has extended the deadline for bids to update master plans of three Corps water projects in North Carolina. Bids now are due Sept. 21, 2009.

Bids previously were due Sept. 15. (HydroWorld 9/10/09) The Corps seeks a contractor to update master plans for the 206-MW John H. Kerr Dam and reservoir in the Roanoke River Basin, Falls Lake in the Neuse River Basin, and W. Kerr Scott Dam and reservoir in the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin. The original master plans were developed in 1980, 1981, and 1983.

The updated master plans are to cover all resources, including fish and wildlife, vegetation, cultural, aesthetic, interpretive, recreational, mineral, commercial, and granted lands, easements, and water. The plans are to focus on regional and ecosystem needs, project resource capabilities and suitabilities, and expressed public interests and desires.

The projects currently are dedicated to flood control, water supply, recreation, fish and wildlife, and, at John H. Kerr, hydropower.
