Corps Little Rock District sets 2014 industry day for hydro, other work

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Little Rock District has scheduled an industry day for fiscal year 2014 to talk with contractors about plans for its facilities, including water resources and hydropower projects. Registration is due by May 10 for meetings June 2-4.

The Little Rock District held a similar event in 2013 to meet with contractors about its construction, engineering, and operations and maintenance plans. The district’s mission includes both military and civil projects, featuring 12 multi-purpose lakes, 13 locks and dams, 308 miles of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, 178 parks, and seven hydroelectric projects. Among its hydro plants are 90-MW Norfork on the North Fork River, 340-MW Bull Shoals on the White River, 115-MW Ozark on the Arkansas River, 96-MW Greers Ferry on the Little Red River and 200-MW Table Rock on the White River.

The industry day is planned for market research to help the district draft acquisition plans for fiscal year 2014. Day One, June 2, from noon to 4 p.m., is to focus on presentations from various Corps representatives on business opportunities. Day Two, June 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., is to be a workshop and training on registering for government opportunities. Day Three, June 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is to include one-on-one sessions with each company attending.

The event is to be held at the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, 2301 University Ave., Little Rock, AR 72204.
