Corps seeks master plan updates for three N.C. projects

The Corps of Engineers’ Wilmington District seeks bids to update master plans of three Corps water projects in North Carolina. Bids are due Sept. 15, 2009.

The Corps seeks a contractor to update master plans for the 206-MW John H. Kerr Dam and reservoir in the Roanoke River Basin, Falls Lake in the Neuse River Basin, and W. Kerr Scott Dam and reservoir in the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin. The original master plans were developed in 1980, 1981, and 1983.

The updated master plans are to cover all resources, including fish and wildlife, vegetation, cultural, aesthetic, interpretive, recreational, mineral, commercial, and granted lands, easements, and water. The plans are to focus on regional and ecosystem needs, project resource capabilities and suitabilities, and expressed public interests and desires.

The projects currently are dedicated to flood control, water supply, recreation, fish and wildlife, and, at John H. Kerr, hydropower.
