Costa Rica seeks flow forecasting to improve hydropower generation

Costa Rica utility Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) seeks bids from consultants to update methods of flow forecasting to optimize hydropower generation. Bids are due July 29.

ICE has several hydroelectric projects in various stages of development including 305.5-MW Reventazon and 49-MW Toro 3. Last year, the utility sought consultants to serve as hydropower expert on a panel reviewing preparation of hydroelectric projects.

In the latest solicitation, ICE seeks consultants to update the methodology for forecasting rain and tributary flows into reservoirs using forecasting models and hydrological models focused on optimizing hydropower generation. The work is to require six months.

Bids are due by 2 p.m. July 29 in a sealed envelope to Direccion de Proveeduria Corporativa ICE, Sabana Norte, 400 metros norte de la esquina este de las Oficinas Centrales, San Jose, Costa Rica. They also may be sent by e-mail to recepciondeofertas@ice.go.cr but must be followed up by a hard copy of the offer within six days. Submissions are to be labeled “Servicios de consultoria para el prognostico hidrologico de caudales afluentes a embalses.”
