Dam safety studies sought for three El Salvador projects

The Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) seeks applications for pre-qualification from consultants to perform dam safety studies for three hydroelectric projects of El Salvador’s Comision Ejecutiva Hidroelectrica del Rio Lempa. Responses are due February 16.

IADB said it seeks to define by technical studies the trustworthiness of the 172.8-MW Cerron Grande, 81-MW Cinco de Noviembre, and 157-MW Quince de Septiembre hydroelectric projects on the Rio Lempa. A goal is to diminish the risk of faults ahead of extreme situations of flooding or earthquakes.

The consultancy is to require 10 months for a fixed price of US$250,000. Work is to include diagnosis of the dams’ status and preparation of a plan of action.

Expressions of interest and qualifications are due by 4 p.m. February 16 to the address below.
