Deadline for HydroVision Brasil 2014 Projects of the Year nominations ends September 10

PennWell do Brasil, organizer of Power Brasil Events, is still accepting Projects of the Year submissions for HydroVision Brasil, POWER-GEN Brasil and Distribu-TECH Brasil.

The purpose of the awards is to recognize and support innovative projects and cases with relevant content and potential to generate significant changes in the industry. To qualify, a project must be tied to a utility, electricity generator, or transmission or distribution company in the South American electric power industry.

“The projects may be on paper or already in development,” said Eduardo Gondim, of PennWell do Brasil. “Most important is that the project is well-structured with a viability study.”

Six projects will be awarded–two projects that correspond to each Power Brasil Event: HydroVision Brasil, POWER-GEN Brasil and DistribuTECH Brasil. Winners will be announced during a 10 a.m., Oct. 21 ceremony at the joint opening keynote session of the three events. Power Brasil Events are is scheduled Oct. 21-23 at the Transamerica Expo Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Winning projects also will gain international visibility through articles published in PennWell Corp. power publications and websites.

Nominations related to the hydroelectric power sector can be submitted in one or more of the seven awards categories, which are:

  • Dam or Civil Works Construction or Rehabilitation
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • New (Greenfield) Development (10-100 MW)
  • New (Greenfield) Development (101-20,000 MW)
  • Project Financial Closing
  • Project Refurbishment/Modernization
  • Small Hydro (less than 10 MW)

Projects from around throughout South America are eligible for consideration.Winners will be selected by a qualified jury of PennWell do Brasil members and an editorial board from PennWell Corp. publications such as HRW-Hydro Review Worldwide, Hydro Review, Power Engineering International, Renewable Energy World, COSPP and POWERGRID International.

“Our main goal is to encourage and promote projects that can bring significant changes to the industry and to the country,” Gondim said.
