Deadline for India’s 1,000-MW Pakal Dul extended again

India’s National Hydroelectric Power Corp. again extended the pre-qualification deadline for turnkey construction of the 1,000-MW Pakal Dul hydroelectric project on the Chenab River in Jammu &Kashmir State. The new deadline is August 18.

The project is to include planning, design, engineering, and construction of all civil structures, including a coffer dam, concrete-faced rockfill dam, headrace tunnel, pressure shaft, underground powerhouse, and a switchyard. The contract also is to include design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of four 250-MW Francis turbine-generators, as well as hydro-mechanical works including gates, trashracks, and steel pressure shaft liner.

Pre-qualification documents may be obtained from the NHPC Internet site, www.nhpcindia.com. A document fee of 40,000 rupees (US$1,000), by demand draft to National Hydroelectric Power Corp. Ltd. at Faridabad, is to be submitted with the application for pre-qualification.

Applications for pre-qualification are due to the address below by 5 p.m. August 18.
