DR Congo extends call for engineers, specialists for 4,800-MW Inga 3 Basse Chute hydro project

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has extended the deadline for expressions of interest from engineers and other specialists to help develop the 4,800-MW Inga 3 Basse Chute hydroelectric project on the Congo River in the DRC. Responses now are due September 19 for both local and international positions.

The DRC previously called for responses by August 24 for local positions and September 5 for international positions. It recruited consultants in May to develop a sedimentology study, an electricity pricing study and an intake capacity study of Inga 3 Basse Chute. It sought bids by August 18 to construct a water intake and an additional supply canal for the Inga hydroelectric complex.

The Inga site currently includes the 350-MW Inga 1 and 1,424-MW Inga 2 hydroelectric projects, which are undergoing refurbishment. Additionally, the DRC is developing Inga 3 Basse Chute as a step toward development of a 42,000-MW Grand Inga hydroelectric complex.

DRC now invites expressions of interest and qualifications for the following positions:

  • Inga 3 Basse Chute project manager;
  • Senior hydropower engineer;
  • civil engineer;
  • electricity transmission engineer;
  • environmental specialist;
  • social specialist;
  • communication manager;
  • information/document specialist
  • financial analyst;
  • assistant manager.

Expressions of interest, including cover letter, resume and professional references now are due September 19 for both local positions and international positions, as specified on job descriptions.
