Economic analysis sought for 147-MW Adjarala hydro project in Benin

Benin utility Communaute d’Electricite du Benin (CEB) invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform an economic analysis of the proposed 147-MW Adjarala hydroelectric project. Responses are due July 29.

CEB, which serves Benin and neighboring Togo, commissioned Chinese hydropower construction company SinoHydro in 2009 to build the hydro project between Togo and Benin on Africa’s Mono River. (HydroWorld 5/28/09) CEB also recruited consultants that year to evaluate utility staff in anticipation of CEB restructuring and the development of Adjarala. (HydroWorld 1/27/09)

With a credit from the World Bank’s International Development Association, CEB seeks consultants to project electricity demand for the next ten years, calculate project rate of return and financial feasibility, recommend pricing policy, compare Adjarala to a natural gas-fired plant, and analyze economic implications for the West Africa sub-region.

Expressions of interest and qualifications are due to the address below by 5 p.m. July 29.
