Ecuador project set to begine power production in March

The 160-MW Paute-Mazar hydropower project on Ecuador’s Paute River is expected to begin commercial production in March.

According to Ecuador’s Power and Renewable Energy Ministry, the project is ahead of schedule and the reservoir is ready to receive water. Feiseh, Ecuador’s energy and hydrocarbons investment fund, is financing the project.

Ecuador launched bidding Aug. 6, 2009, for civil work and electromechanical equipment for construction of a 487-MW hydropower project on the Paute River. Bids are due Nov. 16. (HydroWorld 8/10/09)
