Ecuador reopens solicitation to build 26-MW Ocana

Ecuador utility Empresa Generadora del Austro S.A. (ElecAustro) has reopened tendering for construction of the 26-MW Ocana hydroelectric project in Ecuador’s Canar Province. Expressions of interest are due December 19.

ElecAustro previously rescinded a contract awarded to Hidalgo &Hidalgo to build the project. (HNN 2/8/08)

The hydro utility said main civil works include a diversion structure, intake, desander, pressure tank, steel conduit and tunnel of 6.4 kilometers, regulating reservoir, surge shaft, penstock, and powerhouse.

Bid documents may be obtained from the utility Internet site, www.elecaustro.com.ec, or by e-mail request to ElecAustro at jsanchez@elecaustro.com.ec. Prospective bidders were urged to register by sending US$1,000 to the address below by 4 p.m. December 9.

Bids, in Spanish, are due by 4 p.m. December 19 to the address below.
