EDP seeks gate rehab for Portugal’s 80-MW Belver

Utility Energias de Portugal (EDP) invites applications for pre-qualification to rehabilitate gates and their control equipment at the 80-MW Belver hydroelectric project. Responses are due October 16.

The gate rehabilitation is part of an ongoing refurbishment program for the hydro project on the Tajo River near Gaviao, Portugal. In 2003, EDP awarded a contract for turbine modernization work to VA Tech Hydro.

EDP intends to procure work including isolation of work areas by cofferdams, repair of damaged gates and renewal of protection from corrosion, reconditioning of control and guidance equipment, reconditioning or replacement of servomotors, and replacement of electronic command and control equipment. EDP seeks to pre-qualify prospective bidders for a minimum period of three years.
