EPC contractor bidding extended for seven Bosnia hydro plants

Norwegian renewable energy developer Technor Energy ASA has extended bidding for construction of seven hydropower projects on Bosnia’s Bosna River on an engineering-procurement-construction basis. Bids now are due October 6, 2009.

Bids previously were due September 15. (HydroWorld 6/2/09) Technor agreed in November to invest 200 million euros (US$259 million) to build six hydropower projects on the Bosna. (HydroWorld 12/1/08) Prime Minister Milorad Dodik of the autonomous Bosnian Serb republic, Republika Srpska, announced the agreement, which followed the republic’s 2007 award of concessions to Technor to build the plants in northwestern Bosnia.

Technor said it would require firms to bid for all three phases of the work comprising seven hydroelectric projects:
o First Phase: Cijevna 1, Cijevna 2, and Cijevna 4;
o Second Phase: Doboj, Cijevna 5, and Cijevna 6, as an option;
o Third Phase: Cijevna 3, as an option.

Technor said it has applied for a loan from the European Investment Bank toward debt financing. It also is to structure equity financing by the green capital fund Aquila Capital of Hamburg, Germany. An Aquila subsidiary, KlimaInvest, owns 20 percent of Technor.
