French agency seeks three micro-hydro plants on Rhone-Rhine canal

The governing council of France’s Haut-Rhin Department seeks bids to supply and install three micro-hydro plants on the Rhone-Rhine canal in France’s Alsace Region. Bids are due October 24.

Utility Electricite de France took bids in July for construction of a new powerhouse at the 187-MW Kembs hydro project on the Rhine in Alsace. That same month, dam reinforcement was sought for the 49-MW Chancy-Pougny hydro project on the Rhone at the Swiss border. Compagnie Nationale du Rhone took bids in March for a 700-kW mini-hydro plant on the Rhone.

In the current solicitation, Conseil General du Haut-Rhin seeks bids to supply and install three micro-hydropower projects at Locks 44, 45, and 46 of the Canal du Rhone au Rhin Declasse at Battenheim and Munchhouse. Work is to include underground connection to the electricity grid. The work is expected to require six months.

Tender documents may be obtained from the address below. Bids, in French, are due by 5 p.m. October 24.
