French utility seeks penstock replacement for 445-MW Pouget

Electricite de France (EDF) seeks bids for replacement of a penstock at the 445-MW Pouget hydroelectric project on the Tarn River in France’s Aveyron Department. Bids are due April 29.

The solicitation is among several recent calls by EDF seeking equipment and services to refurbish its hydro projects. In 2008, the utility called for replacement governors and excitation systems for 24 sites including Pouget.

EDF seeks dismantling of penstock No. 2, replacement of penstock sections, and rebuilding of supports. Anticorrosion coating is to be applied both inside and outside of the penstock. The penstock is about 1,000 meters long and ranges from 2.5 to 2.7 meters in diameter. The work is to require 58 months.
