French utility seeks power tunnel, penstock rehab at 34-MW Sabart hydro project

Electricite de France (EDF) seeks bids to rehabilitate the power tunnel and replace penstock sections and the discharge conduit of the 34-MW Sabart hydroelectric project in France. Bids are due September 30.

Sabart is among 30 hydroelectric projects in EDF’s Aude Ariege hydroelectric group in France’s departments of Ariege, Aude and Pyrenees-Orientales. EDF took bids in 2011 to refurbish penstocks of a nearby plant in the group, 101-MW Aston. It also took bids for penstock refurbishment at the 126-MW Passy project.

The utility currently seeks bids to rehabilitate the power tunnel and replace penstock sections, the discharge conduit, valve heads and control cables at Sabart. The work is expected to require 36 months.
