Gas breakers sought for five U.S. hydro projects

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to supply gas breakers for two hydroelectric projects, with an option to supply three other projects, all in Alabama and Georgia. Bids are due March 30.

The contract includes options to supply two 121-kV SF6 gas breakers for the 75-MW Millers Ferry project on the Alabama River in Alabama, two more for the 73.4-MW West Point project on the Chattahoochee River in Alabama and Georgia (HydroWorld 1/15/10), and 11 245-kV SF6 gas breakers for the 600-MW Richard B. Firms must submit bids for all 26 breakers.

A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W9127810R0050 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
