GE to equip China’s 300-MW Su Jia He Kou

GE Energy has been chosen to supply turbines for the 300-MW Su Jia He Kou hydropower project being built on the Bing Lang Jiang River in China’s Yunnan Province.

GE said its GE Hydro Asia Co. facility in Hangzhou is to manufacture three 105-MW high-head vertical Francis turbines. The units are to feature GE’s latest runner technology, which GE said evolved from units first supplied to the 600-MW Lubuge hydro project in Yunnan Province in 1985.

GE also is to conduct model testing and to serve as technical adviser for the project. Delivery of equipment to the site is to begin in February 2008, with the first unit to begin operation by June 2009.

Yunnan Baoshan Bing Lang Jiang Hydro Power Development Co. Ltd. owns Su Jia He Kou, which is to supply power to China’s national grid.
