Geotechnical survey sought by U.S. at 810-MW Lower Granite Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to perform geotechnical survey work at 810-MW Lower Granite Dam on the Snake River in Washington. Bids are due April 8.

The Corps’ Walla Walla District awarded a contract in January to American Babbitt Bearing Inc. for turbine rehabilitation at Lower Granite and the 402-MW Dworshak project.

In a solicitation set aside for small businesses, the Corps now seeks bids to perform geotechnical exploration on the south shore extending from the face of Lower Granite Dam to about the center of the juvenile fish facility.

The work is to include a minimum of 20 exploration borings with an option to advance 15 additional borings. No laboratory testing is required.
