Germany’s Aquila interested in Akfen hydroelectric holdings

ISTANBUL, Turkey 3/26/12 (PennWell) — Turkish infrastructure developer Akfen Holding is in talks with Aquila Hydropower to sell a stake of its energy hydropower unit, Akfenhes, and its subsidiaries, sources report.

A statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange says the Germany-based Aquila made an offer that is being evaluated by the Akfen Holding board of directors, and talks have started on signing a memorandum of understanding.

Financial details and other specifics of the acquisition were not disclosed.

An Aquila subsidiary, KlimaInvest, owns part of Technor Energy AS, which sought bids for work on several Norwegian hydroelectric projects in 2009.
