Ghana seeks switchgear refurbishment at 160-MW Kpong

Ghana’s Volta River Authority (VRA) seeks bids for refurbishment of switchgear at the 160-MW Kpong hydroelectric project on the Volta River. Bids are due January 18.

VRA, which received a US$45 million credit from the World Bank’s International Development Association for the West Africa Power Pool (WAPP) Program, also seeks bids January 18 in two separate solicitations for WAPP Coastal Transmission Backbone Project work. (HNN 7/7/06).

For the Kpong project, VRA seeks decommissioning and dismantling of existing equipment and design, manufacture, installation, testing, and commissioning of new facilities for P6 � Upgrade of Kpong Generating Station Switchgear of the CTB-2 Project. Work includes all electro-mechanical equipment and associated civil works to refurbish the switchyard.

A pre-bid meeting and site visit is scheduled November 29. Bids are due to the Project Manager address below by 1 p.m. GMT January 18.

WAPP Coastal Transmission Backbone Project work sought

In one solicitation for WAPP Coastal Transmission Backbone Project work, VRA seeks Package 5-4-3: Third Bulk Supply Point for Accra/Tema � Supply of Transformers, including four transformers and a transformer oil purification plant.

Bids are due to the Chief Executive address below by 1 p.m. GMT January 18.

In the second solicitation for WAPP Coastal Transmission Backbone Project work, VRA seeks Supply and Installation of Plant and Equipment for Third Bulk Supply Point for Accra/Tema. That includes Lot 5-4-1 for substation work and Lot 5-4-2 for transmission line work.
