Guinea seeks updated environmental, social studies of 90-MW Fomi hydro project

The government of Guinea invites expressions of interest from consultants to update environmental and social studies of the proposed 90-MW Fomi hydroelectric project in the upper Niger River Basin. Responses are due October 27.

The Niger Basin Authority recruited consultants in July to assist agency financing and dam management and to study development of the multi-purpose hydro project on the Niandan River in Guinea. In 2013, Guinea’s rural engineering directorate recruited firms for a feasibility study and to perform design and tender preparation for construction of Fomi.

Guinea’s Direction Nationale du Genie Rural now invites expressions of interest to update environmental and social studies of Fomi conducted in 2007-2009. The work is to require 20 months in parallel with the feasibility study and preliminary detailed design.

Expressions of interest in French, an original and three copies, are due by 10 a.m. October 27 to the first address below, labeled “Manifestation d’Interet pour l’Actualisation des Etudes Environnementales et Sociales du Projet de Barrage a Buts Multiples de Fomi.” A short-list of firms will be compiled to submit proposals.
