GVK Power subsidiary to develop India hydropower project

GVK Power and Infrastructure Ltd. announced that its subsidiary has won the bid to develop the 690-MW Rattle hydroelectric project on the Chinab River in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The project is targeted for completion by 2017.

The GVK subsidiary will carry out the development work on a build, own operate and transfer basis, according to media reports from the region.

In other news, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited secured a contract for the electro-mechanical equipment package for the 330-MW Kishanganga hydro project in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
