Hastings project wins honorable mention at POWER-GEN International

Hydro Green Energy LLC won honorable mention in the renewable/sustainable category of Power Engineering magazine’s annual Projects of the Year Awards.

The winners were announced at POWER-GEN International 2009, a conference and trade show held in Las Vegas.

Hydro Green Energy developed the nation’s first federally-licensed hydrokinetic power project. Developed on the Mississippi River in Hastings, Minn., the project involves two hydrokinetic turbines at Mississippi Lock and Dam No. 2.

The first unit was placed into service in August 2009. (HydroWorld 8/20/09) The second turbine will be installed in 2010. Together, the two units will be able to generate up to 250 KW.
