Hatch names new global director of renewable power

Engineering consulting firm Hatch has selected Mario Marchese as its new global director of renewable power.

Marchese — who will be based in Hatch’s office in Lima, Peru — has served the past four years as the company’s regional director for energy over Latin America.

The executive has a background in consulting, mining operations, steel manufacturing and energy projects, Hatch said, after having worked for SN Power Chile as project director and general manager of its Hydro and Wind Divisions from 2007 to 2010.

While at SN Power Chile, Marchese was responsible for developing engineering studies for four hydropower projects totaling more than US$1.5 billion in capital investments.

Marchese has also worked as a business development director for the Fluor Corporation and commercial manager for Clintac.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical and environmental engineering from University Santa Maria in Chile, and a master’s in mineral processing from McGill University in Canada.
