HCC to build India’s 44-MW Chutak, 45-MW Nimoo Bazgo

National Hydroelectric Power Corp. (NHPC) has awarded contracts totaling US$172.6 million to Hindustan Construction Co. Ltd. (HCC) to build the 44-MW Chutak and 45-MW Nimoo Bazgo hydroelectric projects in India. (HNN 6/12/06)

HCC received a contract worth 4.1 billion rupees (US$89.2 million) for civil construction of Chutak, a four-unit project on the Saru River in Jammu &Kashmir State. Work includes a dam, coffer dams, intake tunnel, headrace tunnel, surge shaft, pressure shaft, underground powerhouse, tailrace tunnel, outlet structure, and switchyard. Time for completion is 50 months.

HCC received a contract worth 3.84 billion rupees (US$83.4 million) for civil construction of Nimoo Bazgo, a three-unit project on the Indus River in Jammu &Kashmir. Work includes a concrete dam, coffer dams, diversion channel, powerhouse, tail pool, and switchyard. Time for completion is 45 months.
