HDR seeks hydro, water resource modeler in California

Omaha-based architectural and engineering firm HDR Engineering seeks a hydroelectric/water resource systems modeler for its hydropower services team in northern California.

The firm seeks an experienced modeler to provide technical support for maintenance and development of hydroelectric operations and ecosystem functions models for municipal and investor-owned utility clients, primarily on the U.S. West Coast. Types of projects are to include development of synthetic inflow hydrology, preparation and implementation of modeling work flow processes, model selection screening studies, and development of models ranging from hydroelectric operations to water temperature-quality and aquatic ecosystem function.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering or hydrology, with a master’s degree preferred. A professional engineer or professional hydrologist license is preferred with at least six years’ experience in hydroelectric systems planning and modeling experience. Software knowledge should include HEC suite including GIS interfaces, MS Office including advanced functionality in MS Excel, database management, and scripting languages such as Python.
