Hindustan wins additional contract for India’s 500-MW Teesta 6

Developer Lanco Infra Tech Ltd. has awarded a contract to Hindustan Construction Co. Ltd. (HCC) for civil construction of twin headrace tunnels for the 500-MW Teesta Stage 6 hydroelectric project on the Teesta River in India’s Sikkim State.

HCC said the 3.6 billion rupee (US$73.8 million) contract is for Lot 2 of the project for civil works of the 16.5-kilometer twin headrace tunnels to be completed in 45 months at Tarkhola in South Sikkim District.

Earlier this year, HCC received a 3.03 billion rupee (US$62 million) contract for Lot 4, construction of powerhouse and transformer caverns, two surge shafts of 16 meters in diameter and 60 meters high, four 5.4-meter-diameter pressure shafts, two D-shaped tailrace tunnels, modified horseshoe-shaped headrace tunnels, and switchyard civil works.
