Honduras seeks equipment for small hydro projects

The government of Honduras seek proposals to supply electro-mechanical equipment for four small hydroelectric projects totaling 1.225 MW in various parts of the country. A pre-bid conference is set January 17, with bids due March 3.

With support of the European Union’s Asia and Latin America development program, tenders are sought by Honduras’ Secretaria Tecnica y de Cooperacion and utility Empresa Nacional de Energia Electrica.

The government seeks supply and delivery of equipment �ranging from the guard valve to the substation connection� for 900-kW Rio Quilio 2 on the Quilio River in Ocotepeque Department, 116-kW Rio Yure on the Yure River in Comayagua Department, 115-kW Rio Claro on the Claro River in Lempira Department, and 94-kW Rio Cuyamel (Las Champas) project on the Cuyamel River in Colon Department. Supply for each project includes a single Pelton turbine-generator, valve, governor, excitation, controls, protection, and related equipment. Rio Yure and Rio Claro include supply of substations.

Work is being carried out under an EU-funded program for independent power generation and energy efficiency, Generacion Autonoma y Uso Racional de Energia Electrica (GAUREE).
