Howdyshell Excavating wins $1.2 million contract for work at South River Dam 10A

Howdyshell Excavating Inc. has been awarded a US$1.2 million contract to rehabilitate the South River Dam 10A on Mills Creek in Augusta County, Va.

The work, offered by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), calls for the removal and expansion of portions of South River Dam 10A’s spillway and other concrete sections.

NRCS, which is a unit of the U.S. Agricultural Department, last solicited bids for the work in June.

Work on the project is expected to last about a year.
