Hydropower is eligible to compete in Duke Energy Ohio’s latest solicitation, for up to 1,400 MW of peaking and intermediate generating capacity. Notices of intent are due Aug. 15, with bids due Aug. 29.
The solicitation is focused on traditional supply-side resources to begin delivery in 2009-2012. However, Duke Energy Ohio spokesman Steve Brash said the request for proposals does not exclude hydropower or other resources from participation.
Duke Energy said it would consider power purchase agreements and asset ownership proposals to satisfy its requirements.
Duke Energy Ohio previously called for proposals for renewable energy projects, including hydropower, to begin delivery in 2009-2012. (HNN 8/5/08)
Instructions for submitting notices of intent are included in the request for proposals, available on the Internet at www.dukeenergyohiorfp.com. A short list is to be selected Oct. 10. Contract negotiations are to be completed in the first quarter of 2009.
Proposals are due Aug. 29 to Duke Energy Ohio RFP, c/o Jon Summerville, Burns &McDonnell, 9400 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64114. For information, contact Burns &McDonnell by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
