Hydrohrom wins small hydro upgrade contract for 132-kW Bruree project

Hydrohrom s.r.o. of Czech Republic has been awarded a US$241,660 contract by small hydro operator Bruree Hydro to replace turbine generators at the 132-kW Bruree hydropower plant on the Limerick River.

The company solicited bids for the work in May.

Per the tender, Hydrohrom is to replace the small hydro project’s three units, increasing capacity to 140 kW to supply the national grid.The company will supply a new 140-kW turbine-generator package, an emergency shutoff device, and a hydraulic actuator

Ireland has about 50 small hydro projects on line. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland seeks to promote small hydro along with ocean energy and other renewables.
