HydroVision speaker spotlight: David Surla with Electricite de France

Editor’s Note: This is part of a series of articles highlighting some speakers at HydroVision International this June in Charlotte, N.C., U.S.

David Surla, commercial engineer with Electricite de France, will be featured in a session on Thursday, June 28, entitled Bold, Beautiful and Powerful – Case Studies of Large Conventional and Pumped Storage Projects.

As an attendee at this interactive session, you will learn about large conventional and pumped storage hydro plants that have played a transformational role in the regions where they have been developed. Large hydro schemes, once considered disruptive to communities and ecosystems, are acknowledged to help eliminate poverty and provide large non-fossil-fuel-dependent, reliable energy sources with minimal carbon emissions.

Other speakers in this session represent Druk Green Power of Bhutan, GE Renewable Energy, Knight Piesold and SNC-Lavalin.

This is only one of six sessions in the New Development track. Over two days, HydroVision International will feature 60 conference sessions: panel presentations, technical paper sessions and poster gallery displays.
