IMPSA, ATB-Riva supply gates for Colombia’s 660-MW Porce 3

Colombia utility Empresas Publicas de Medellin (EPM) has awarded contracts totaling US$16 million for supply of gates for the 660-MW Porce 3 hydroelectric project.

Argentina’s Industrias Metalurgicas Pescarmona S.A. (IMPSA) and Italy’s ATB-Riva Calzoni of Italy are to manufacture and supply gates for the diversion tunnel and outlets of the project being built on the Porce River in Antioquia Department.

IMPSA previously received a US$36.9 million contract to supply four Francis turbines, while Japan’s Mitsui &Co. Ltd. received a US44.8 million contract to supply synchronous generators. IMPSA’s Brazil contract totals US$130 million

In other action, IMPSA said its contract to supply the 312-MW Simplicio and 28.8-MW Anta hydroelectric projects in Brazil totals 282 million reais (US$130 million). Holding company Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras S/A (Eletrobras) and its utility unit, Furnas Centrais Eletricas, previously signed an equipment contract with IMPSA for the work on Brazil’s Paraiba do Sul River. IMPSA said over 38 months it will design, manufacture, install, and commission five turbines and generators to be built at its Mendoza, Argentina, plant. Remaining electromechanical equipment and services will be provided by Inverall Ltda., IMPSA’s Brazilian subsidiary.

The first unit is to begin operation in 32 months.
