India developer seeks construction of 3.75-MW Durgaduani Tidal

India developer NHPC Ltd. seeks bids for turnkey construction of the 3.75-MW Durgaduani Tidal Power project in West Bengal State. Bids are due by February 13, 2009.

The project is being funded by owner West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency and India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. (HNN 2/18/08) In 2007, NHPC recruited consultants to carry out design and planning of the project, on Durgaduani Creek in the Sundarbans, South and North 24 Parganas districts.

Work is to include planning, design, engineering, and execution of all civil structures such as a dike, inlet sluice, powerhouse, and switchyard; and design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of three 1.25-MW bulb turbine-generators, ancillary equipment, switchyard, and hydro-mechanical equipment such as vertical lift gates, stoplogs, hoists, and gantry cranes. The work is to be performed in 27 months.

Bid documents may be obtained from the address below until February 12, 2009, by request labeled �Request for Bid Document for Durgaduani Mini Tidal Power Project.� A document fee of 5,000 rupees or US$125 is to be paid by demand draft to NHPC Ltd. at Faridabad. Documents also may be obtained from the NHPC Internet site,, with the document fee accompanying the bid in a sealed envelope labeled �Cost of Bid Document downloaded from website.� The applicant also must inform NHPC 15 days in advance of the bid date.

A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. December 5 at the NHPC Office Complex, Sector 33, Faridabad. Two-envelope bids are due by 3 p.m. February 13, 2009.
