India extends bidding to finish headrace tunnel at 800-MW Parbati 2

India’s NHPC Ltd. has extended the deadline for bids to complete civil works of the headrace tunnel of the 800-MW Parbati 2 hydroelectric project on the Parbati River in India’s Himachal Pradesh State. Bids now are due August 31.

NHPC previously called for bids by August 7.

Parbati 2 is an inter-basin transfer project that is to be augmented by diverting the discharge of various streams, or nallahs, along the headrace tunnel alignment. NHPC took bids in 2010 to build the Jiwa Nallah works of Parbati 2.

The government-owned developer now seeks excavation by tunnel-boring machine of about 4,849 meters of 6-meter-diameter tunnel. Work also includes concrete lining of 8,972 meters of the tunnel. The work is to require 58 months.

Tender documents may be obtained from NHPC’s Internet site, www.nhpcindia.com. The deadline for obtaining documents from the address below also was extended until August 30, upon payment of 10,000 rupees (US$176) by demand draft to NHPC Ltd. at Faridabad. An additional 500 rupees (US$8.80) is charged for mail delivery.

Bids now are due by 2:30 p.m. August 31. For information, contact B.B.N. Subudhi, Chief Engineer (CC-IV), Contracts-Civil Division, NHPC Ltd., 2nd Floor, NHPC Office Complex, Sector 33, Faridabad 121003 Haryana, India; (91) 129-2270596; E-mail: bbnsubudhi@nhpc.nic.in; Internet: www.nhpcindia.com.
