India firm seeks builders, equipment for two small hydros

Super Hydro Electric Private Ltd. (SHEP) of New Delhi invites expressions of interest from builders and equipment suppliers for two small hydropower projects in India’s Uttarakhand State.

Responses are expected to be due in early September. Prospective bidders are to contact the address below for an exact date.

The projects are 4-MW Khirao Ganga and 24.3-MW Bhyundar Ganga (or Bhyunder Ganga), on tributaries of the Alaknanda River in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand. (HNN 7/2/08)

SHEP is developing the projects on a build-own-operate-transfer basis. It plans to seek bids for separate packages, No. SHEP/KG/ for Khirao Ganga and No. SHEP/BG/ for Bhyundar Ganga, as follows:
o 01 Civil works — diversion weir, intake channel, desilting basin, headrace tunnel, powerhouse, tailrace, switchyard;
o 02 Hydro-mechanical works — trash racks, gates, penstocks;
o 03 Approach roads and bridge;
o 04 Ropeway;
o 05 Transmission line;
o 06 Electro-mechanical equipment — turbine-generators and accessories.
