ADB funds tendering assistance for Himachal hydro program

The Asian Development Bank approved funding March 10 for tendering assistance to Himachal Pradesh Power Corp. Ltd. to implement the Himachal Clean Power Development program. Consultants are to be recruited for the work.

The Multi-Tranche Financing Facility for Himachal Clean Power Development program is to expand power supplies and develop clean energy by supporting selected investments in hydropower generation and related transmission system expansion. The program would partially offset project operating expenses by carbon credit sales under the United Nations’ Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

Bidding will be used for turnkey contracts to build and equip the hydropower plants. Consulting services are to be procured for contract administration, hydropower design and construction, construction supervision, planning, human resources, information technology, CDM initiatives, and power trading.

ADB approved financing for advance contracting work, including preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and recruitment of consultants.
