India state seeks construction, equipment for four small plants

The hydro development agency of India’s Uttarakhand State seeks bids to build and equip four small hydroelectric projects totaling 29 MW. Bids are due March 22 and March 31.

With US$300 million in funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the state is proceeding with the Uttaranchal Power Sector Investment Project comprising clean energy development mainly involving small hydro, plus transmission system expansion and sector capacity building. Expressions of interest from consultants were requested in 2006 to help with design and implementation of the program. (HNN 5/25/06)

All four two-unit projects are in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag District.

4-MW Kaliganga 1, 10-MW Madhyamaheshwar

Uttaranchal Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (UJVNL) called for international bids by 2 p.m. March 22 for complete construction and equipping of the 4-MW Kaliganga 1 (Contract I-P/ADB/UJVNL/Kaliganga-I) and 10-MW Madhyamaheshwar (Contract 2-P/ADB/UJVNL/Madhyamaheshwar) projects.

Work includes design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning. Bidders may apply for one or both contracts.

6-MW Kaliganga 2, 9-MW Kaldigad

UJVNL seeks international bids for electro-mechanical equipment and domestic bids for civil construction of the 6-MW Kaliganga 2 and 9-MW Kaldigad. All bids are due by 2 p.m. March 31.

The electro-mechanical contracts (Contract 3-ICB/ADB/UJVNL/Kaliganga-II) and (Contract 4-ICB/ADB/UJVNL/Kaldigad) include design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment. International bidders may bid for one or both contracts.

The civil works contracts (Contract 3-C/ADB/UJVNL/Kaliganga-II) and (Contract 4-C/ADB/UJVNL/Kaldigad) similarly seek design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of civil works.

Bid documents, in English, may be obtained from the address below for 25,000 rupees or US$500 plus 10 percent trade tax for each of the contracts. Payment is by bank draft to Uttaranchal Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd., Account No. 30024638487, State Bank of India, Dehradun.

The documents for Kaliganga 1 and Madhyamaheshwar also may be obtained until March 20 from the UJVNL Internet site, www.uttaranchaljalvidyut.com, with the fee submitted at the time of offer. Similarly, the documents for Kaliganga 2 and Kaldigad may be obtained until March 29 from the Internet site.
