India state seeks consultants for clean energy program with hydro

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) invites expressions of interest from consultants for a clean power development investment program in India’s Jammu and Kashmir State that includes hydropower. Responses are due January 10, 2008.

The bank is providing US$800,000 in technical assistance to hire consultants to help examine technical feasibility of proposed project components, including selected hydropower development options. (HNN 10/29/07)

Other work would include assessing the overall feasibility of proposed sector development policy components; the economic, financial, environmental, and social viability of project components and the entire project; and commercial feasibility and private sector participation potential. The consultant would recommend financing mechanisms, institutional strengthening, capacity development, and human resource development programs.

Expressions of interest are due by January 10, 2008. Work is expected to be performed between May and October 2008.
