India state seeks hydro development consultant

India’s Himachal Pradesh (HP) State invites expressions of interest from consultants to help draft a framework for hydropower development in the state. Responses are due August 21.

HP seeks consultants to develop a framework for the state to: develop hydropower projects; optimize state revenues from royalty payments or equity power from the projects; and minimize investment needs and risks involved. (HNN 8/3/07)

The work is to include a framework for using part of state revenues to facilitate accelerated development of hydro in an environmentally and socially sustainable manner, including suggestions for benefit sharing with local communities. The assignment is expected to require six months, beginning in October.

Terms of reference may be obtained from the HP Internet site Expressions of interest, and qualifications, three copies of not more than 15 pages each, are due to the address below by 2 p.m. August 21.
