India state seeks monitoring of dams, irrigation systems

India’s Rajasthan State invites expressions of interest from consultants for monitoring and evaluation of the Rajasthan Water Sector Restructuring Project. Responses are due January 31.

The Rajasthan Water Department received a credit for the program from the World Bank’s International Development Association. Activities under include rehabilitation and modernization of canal systems of 89 irrigation systems, dam safety work at 16 dams, fostering of water users organizations, groundwater management pilot programs, strengthening agriculture extension services, implementation of a hydrological information system, and installation of a supervisory control and data acquisition system in Gang and Bhakra canal systems.

The 21-month consultancy is to monitor progress of various activities and suggest remedial actions to improve performance.
