India state seeks studies of 300-MW Gyspa

India’s Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) seeks bids for a feasibility study and detailed project report of the 300-MW Gyspa hydroelectric project on the Bhaga River in Lahaul and Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh. Bids are due December 29, 2009.

HPSEB previously took bids for build-own-operate-transfer construction of 17 hydroelectric projects including Gyspa, which variously has been listed at 170 MW and 240 MW of installed capacity.

The utility now seeks feasibility studies and a detailed project report on Gyspa including geological exploration, environmental studies, forestry studies, and seismological studies.

Gyspa is to include a 200-meter-tall storage dam, 1 million acre-foot reservoir, 11.75-kilometer headrace tunnel, surge tank, 470-meter pressure shaft, and four 75-MW turbine-generators in an underground powerhouse.

A pre-bid meeting is scheduled December 16. Bid documents may be obtained until December 23 from the address below for 10,000 rupees (US$217) by bank draft or bankers check payable to Accounts Officer (Banking), HPSEB, Shimla, and drawn on any scheduled Indian bank at Shimla. Courier delivery costs 1,000 rupees (US$22) in India and 5,000 rupees (US$109) for foreign delivery.

Separate technical and price bids are due by 3 p.m. December 29. Technical bids are to be opened first to pre-qualify bidders for subsequent opening of price bids.

India state seeks EM equipment for 100-MW Sainj

India’s Himachal Pradesh Power Corp. Ltd. (HPPC) seeks bids for electro-mechanical equipment for the 100-MW Sainj hydroelectric project on the Sainj River in India’s Himachal Pradesh State. Bids are due January 5, 2010.

HPPC already called for bids October 30, 2009, for civil construction and hydro-mechanical works of Sainj. (HydroWorld 9/24/09) The run-of-river project is to include a diversion dam on the Sainj River near Nihami, an intake drawing 35.88 cubic meters per second of water, an underground desilting arrangement, headrace tunnel, surge shaft, a 550-meter-long steel-lined pressure shaft, two 50-MW Pelton vertical-axis turbine-generators, and an underground powerhouse.

In the current solicitation, HPPC seeks proposals for design, supply, installation, and commissioning of two 50-MW turbine-generators, auxiliaries, transformers, switchgear, 145-kilovolt gas-insulated switchgear, XLPE cable, and other equipment for the powerhouse, pothead yard, and dam area.

Bid documents, in English, may be obtained from the address below for 20,000 rupees or US$400. Courier delivery costs an additional 1,000 rupees for domestic delivery or US$100 for overseas delivery. A pre-bid conference is scheduled November 10.
