India supplier seeks turbine, valve designers

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) invites expressions of interest from firms to prepare design drawings for assemblies of hydropower turbines and valves for upcoming hydroelectric projects. Responses are due June 5.

“Government of India is encouraging and has plans for enhancing hydropower generation in a big way in the coming years,” a BHEL notice said. “BHEL to meet this growing challenge has decided to out-source part of the designs.”

BHEL plans to short list and categorize applicants based on details of their organizations’ qualifications, experience, and computer-assisted design capability. Selected parties are to enter a confidentiality agreement with BHEL.

Work is to include:
o Preparation of detailed design and part drawings per BHEL’s practice for manufacturing; and
o Submission of detailed calculations using latest design software.

Expressions of interest with details on the applicants are due June 5 in a sealed envelope, labeled “Expression of interest for design of turbine and valve” to L.K.
