India’s NHPC seeks carbon consultant for two projects

National Hydroelectric Power Corp. (NHPC) seeks bids from consultants to assist in sale of carbon emissions reductions to be generated by the 45-MW Nimoo Bazgo and 44-MW Chutak hydroelectric projects being built in India’s Jammu &Kashmir State. Bids are due December 15.

HCC received a contract worth 3.84 billion rupees (US$83.4 million) for civil construction of Nimoo Bazgo, a three-unit project on the Indus River in Jammu &Kashmir. HCC received a contract worth 4.1 billion rupees (US$89.2 million) for civil construction of Chutak, a four-unit project on the Saru River in Jammu &Kashmir.

NHPC issued a global invitation for bids from consultants, including government funds, funds administered by national agencies, public sector funds administered by the private sector, private sector funds, bi-lateral or multi-lateral funds, and independent organizations and consultants, that deal with carbon emissions reductions under the United Nations-backed Clean Development Mechanism program.

Bid documents may be obtained until November 8 by downloading from NHPC’s Internet site,, or from the address below. A document fee is required of 1,000 rupees or US$25 by demand draft to National Hydroelectric Power Corp. Ltd. at Faridabad. It is payable with the document request or, if the documents are downloaded, with a letter of confirmation to the address below by November 10.

Requests for documents must be clearly labeled: “Request for Tender Documents for Consultancy Services for Development of NHPC Ltd.’s Nimoo Bazgo/Chutak Projects under CDM and Sale of Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) generated by these Projects up to 31st December 2012.”
